Upcoming Exhibition - February Flavours

For February flavours we're hosting a group exhibition, featuring artists Aileen Dunleavy, Mark Dwyer, Jim Kavanagh, Mark Kiss, Bernie Prendergast, Mark Redden,
Helen Blundell Timon, Diana Pivovarova and others.

The Show will start at 6pm on Thururday, the 28th of Febuary.

New Arrival

William Watson, William Watson was born in 1975 and currently lives and teaches in Kilkenny. He studied Art and design and achieved a diploma in fine art at NCAD (Dublin).

The artist paints mainly with acrylic on canvas, primed with warm tones, building up the composition with layers of small brushstrokes. This building up of punctuated colour has the overall aim of producing intense and vibrant tones, dramatically increasing the freshness and temperature of the painting.

Watson says of Connemara and her people; 'My paintings are a testament to these special people, their land and the sea about them.'

Commissions include Springhill Court Hotel, Durrow Castle Hotel and Duiske Abbey as well as many private pieces.

The artist's first solo exhibition was at Kilkenny's arts festival in 2005.

Artist of the Month

Rasher, born Mark Kavanagh, grew up in the seaside town of Bray, Co. Wicklow.

After attracting interest with several self-mounted shows, he held a successful one-man show in Dublin which led to newspaper profiles and an appearance on the Late Late Show. Since then he
has established himself as one of the most interesting painters of his generation.

His principal subject has always been the human figure, often solitary, treated with a vivid directness that hints at his acknowledged masters—Caravaggio, Dali, Bacon, Hopper—but that, in the end, belongs to Rasher alone.
